LOS ANGELES -- A Superior Court judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit against a suburbanLos Angeles County school district by a former principal who was demoted after she notified the Sheriff's Department of threats allegedly made by a teacher against his colleagues.
Judge Joanne O'Donnell has set a settlement conference next week in the case of Eileen Blagden against ABC Unified in Cerritos.
Blagden alleges the demotion was retaliation for reporting to law enforcement a teacher's statements about hiring a hit man to kill two colleagues in 2010.
Blagden says she was told by superiors to forget about the incident after the teacher was taken to a hospital. He no longer works for the district.
Superintendent Mary Sieu says the district disagrees with Blagden's characterization of the incident and acted appropriately.
